The Mighty Hand of God

Sometimes we think we can manage things very nicely on our own and are quite pleased and even feel pride in our abilities and accomplishments.

Then we reach a sticky hiccup and have to knuckle down and swallow our pride and seek the Lord's help.  Of course, this is what we should have done in the first place.

The apostle Peter must have learned a similar lesson along the way.  We all know of his formerly impetuous behavior as we read in the gospels.  However, there was much redeeming grace wrought in his life.  He could then write, advise and exhort, encouragingly.

"Humble yourselves therefore under the might hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.  Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you" (1 Peter 5:6-7).

I like that phrase,

"...the mighty hand of God..."

Our Heavenly Father is omnipotent - all powerful, with Him all things are possible.  Let us submit ourselves humbly to His care for He,

"...cares for you [us]".

We can then move forward with confidence in Christ whatever our situation and however He works things out for us.  Let Him have His way in us.  Listen for the Holy Spirit's guidance and prompts from God's Word.  With Him we will manage very well.  We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:11-13).
