Lord's Day Devotion - Resurrection's Church Building

What an explosion was ignited the moment Jesus Christ rose from the dead!  His resurrection fueled the Church into being; believe it or not, it happened!

My confidence is founded in what Paul told the Corinthians, that after Jesus was raised on the third day "according to the Scriptures;"

"He appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve.  After that, He appeared to more than 500 of the brothers and sisters at the time..." (1 Corinthians 15:3-6 NIV).

He added that at the time of writing, most of that lot were still living.  In other words, they could verify what he was saying.

It didn't stop there.  Peter and Paul - Jews - courageously and boldly, broke racial and religious barriers to bring the message of Jesus to the Gentiles, who up until this time had been 'anathema' to them.  This was the initial explosion, lit by Christ's resurrection, and the Holy Spirit's carrying the torch ever since, through faithful believers in Jesus Christ, all down the ages until today.

Many missionaries are still breaking through barriers of language, culture and unfounded beliefs propagated by God's, and subsequently our, enemy Satan and his minions.

We serve a living Savior, Who's in this world today - let us continue this work set out for us.  Remember what Christ has done for us through His death and resurrection, He,

"died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to Scriptures..." (1 Corinthians 15:3-4 NIV).

Jesus Christ is our literal life-line.  He is for others yet to come to Him in faith and repentance, to be added to His Church, until He comes.  Perhaps today!

Let's praise Him together all you children of God as we remember Jesus in His death and resurrection this Lord's Day.  Thoughtfully and joyfully pass and partake of the broken bread, symbolizing His death; drink then of the cup of wine, symbolizing His blood spilled for us - for our redemption and forgiveness of sin, bringing us eternal life in Christ from the moment we have accepted Him as Savior.

One day, if we die before the Rapture and are buried (or cremated), we know that He will resurrect us too, because as Paul put it, we have only...

"...fallen asleep in Jesus..."

...and so we have this sure hope in Him - all part and parcel of this wonderful gift of salvation (1 Corinthians 15:12-21 NIV).

As the hymn goes,

"the Church's one foundation is Jesus Christ, our Lord".

We believers in Jesus Christ are the living stones that have been added and added and added since His resurrection (see 1 Peter 2:5).  The building of His Church is ongoing still.  It is exciting to be part of His construction and ongoing construction team.
