Check Your Aroma

When was the last time you checked your own aroma?  Ha, ha.  Have a sniff.  Was it pleasing or something otherwise?  😁

The apostle Paul declared that he and the Corinthian believers were,

"to God the pleasing aroma of Christ..." (2 Corinthians 2:15 NIV).

For what reason?  It was because of the "triumphal procession" Christ was leading them in spreading another kind of aroma,...that is,

"...the aroma of the knowledge of Him everywhere" (2 Corinthians 2:14 NIV).

This aroma being spread among saved as well as the perishing.  This comes in two types of aroma, depending on to whom they were bringing this knowledge, and the acceptance thereof,

"...to one we are the aroma of death; to the other, an aroma that brings life..." (2 Corinthians 2:16 NIV)

No matter, we bring the "aroma of His knowledge" anyway.  Let us give our thanks to God, we can waft this fragrance where ever and when ever, to His glory.

Think of it as a lady wearing her perfume.  When she walks through a crowd she leaves wafts of "aroma" in her wake.  People's reactions will either be positive or negative depending on their personal preferances for such bouquets of scent.

Similarly, speaking of 'smells,' like to how one would react to a construction worker at the end of his long day of sweaty labors working in the sun.  When he passes by I don't think anyone would call it a "pleasing aroma".

We may be getting off track here a bit.  Pull back to the essence - the aroma of the knowledge of Him, also called, the "aroma of Christ".  Let us be devoted to wafting this through crowds or passed to individuals, not only by our words but actions too, keeping in mind to,

"...speak before God with sincerity, as those sent by God..." (2 Corinthians 2:17 NIV).

At the end of the day, double check your aroma.
