HAIKU - The Poor Widow (Mark 12:41-44 ESV)

A rushing cascade

of money, coins whooshing down

a chute, their off'ring.

But hers, "plink!," "plink!," two

small coins; her off'ring, her all.

But Jesus saw it.

What do we bring?  What

is my off'ring?  Let it pour

out of my heart, "Who-o-o-sh!"

Father God, at times we are rather stingy with our offerings or on the other hand, make a show of how much sound our large amounts make.

We are humbled when we think of the poor widow who gave her all.  It was a very small amount, but it was ...

" ... everything she had, all she had to live on" (vs 44).

Out of a heart of love for You, she gave.  No show.  In fact, she was likely looked down upon but Jesus understood her and that's what counts.  She had ...

" ... put in more than all those who [were] contributing to the offering box,"              Jesus said (vs 43).

May our hearts be as grateful to give freely, willingly, into the offering box but also as the needs of others arise, in our day-to-day living.

Thank You for giving us Your all, Father.  You gave your one and only son to buy our pardon.  In You and Him we put our trust; giving our heartfelt thanks of gratitude.  In Jesus' name, may we too give our all as You direct.  Amen.
