Bound and Delivered (Mark 15)

 " ... and they bound Jesus and led Him away and delivered Him to Pilate"
    (Mark 15:1 ESV).

Jesus had been arrested and then brought before the Roman authorities after having been raked over the coals, so to speak, by the religious authorites of His day.

He had been "delivered" as if He was a parcel in the mail.  His accusers were unbothered by any of His discomfort, pain and unjust treatment.

He had been "bound" too.  His binding being what initiated our being "set free".  He was bound so that He could set us captives, who had been bound by sin, free.

He loosed our sin chains and they fell way as He went through that awful, shameful, death on the cross.  As He was buried, and then as He rose again from the dead;

" ... by the glory of the Father, [that] we too might walk in newness of life"           (Romans 6:4 ESV).

His earthly purpose and task complete.

Amazing grace!

Thank You, Jesus! You went through so much for me and the rest of mankind.  Thank You so much that Your being "bound and delivered" had the power to set me free.  And not just for me but for all those who receive You by faith, accepting Your freeing gift of salvation.  I thank You from the bottom of my heart.  Amen.
